Il seguente elaborato è frutto del progetto sviluppato durante lo stage di sei mesi svolto presso la funzione Operations Service di Cromology Italia S.p.A., impresa leader nel settore italiano delle vernici. Il progetto è dedicato al miglioramento del processo di Demand Forecasting e Demand Planning dell’impresa. Nella prima fase è stata eseguita l’analisi del processo AS IS, con cui sono state individuate delle azioni di miglioramento per progettare il processo TO BE e rendere questo maggiormente strutturato. Molto importante è stata la definizione del metodo di misura della Forecast Accuracy, utile per monitorare l’accuratezza delle previsioni e valutare la bontà degli interventi attuati nel corso del progetto. Nella seconda fase, è stata fatta una suddivisione in classi del perimetro di prodotti, assegnando ad ognuna di esse delle regole operative con cui garantire una maggiore tracciabilità ed affidabilità delle previsioni. Infine, nella terza fase è stato selezionato un numero limitato di software gestionali alternativi che potrebbero supportare il processo, tenendo conto delle caratteristiche che questo presenterà in futuro. Tutto ciò è stato affiancato dallo studio della letteratura in merito a questo tema, che è stata un’importante fonte di soluzioni da applicare al caso pratico.

This work is the outcome of the project developed during the internship in the Operations Service area of Cromology Italia S.p.A., who is the leader in the Italian paints industry. This project aims to the improvement of the Demand Forecasting and Demand Planning process of the company. The first part of the project has covered the analysis AS IS of the process and the identification of improvement actions to project the process TO BE and to give it a better structure. Particularly, the definition of a method to measure the Forecast Accuracy has been very useful to monitor the results of the forecasting activities and to evaluate the effectiveness of the actions made during the project. The second part has concerned the grouping of the products in classes and the attribution of rules to manage each one, in order to ensure the traceability and the reliability of the forecasts. At least, the third phase has involved the research of a limited number of different management software to support the process and its future features. Moreover, the study of literature about Demand Forecasting and Demand Planning has been very helpful to find solutions to apply to the case study.
