The thesis deals with the implementation of a framework capable of intelligently migrating virtual machines within an openstack installation in order to obtain greater efficiency in the use of resources and energy savings due to the shutdown of unnecessary hosts. The framework takes care of collecting the necessary metrics from each host, calculating the best placement of the virual machines that guarantees the aforementioned benefits without degrading the SLAs with the customer, migrating the virtual machines and managing the hosts. The experiments were conducted thanks to a simulator and an openstack installation in one of the Aruba data centers.
