    Riassunto

This PhD research project is situated within the growing field of Green Chemistry, addressing the pressing environmental and sustainability challenges currently facing the chemical sciences. The primary objective of the work is to contribute to the global effort of reducing the ecological and health risks associated with traditional chemical processes, particularly through the replacement of hazardous volatile organic compounds (VOCs) with safer, more sustainable alternatives. Beyond solvent substitution, the thesis explores how technological innovations can further drive sustainable chemistry. Two such methodologies—photochemistry and flow chemistry—are introduced as complementary strategies. These approaches not only reduce energy consumption and waste generation but also enhance safety and scalability. In summary, this research contributes to the advancement of green and sustainable chemistry by offering practical solvent alternatives and implementing innovative technologies, with particular relevance to pharmaceutical synthesis. It demonstrates that environmentally friendly practices can be integrated into high-performance synthetic methodologies without compromising efficiency or scalability.
