Riassunto
The advent of the Internet of Things (IoT) has transformed the way we interact with technology, presenting both unprecedented opportunities and significant challenges. These include the operation of power-constrained devices in densely populated areas and the search for a unified solution to meet these requirements. The IEEE 802.11ah Wi-Fi HaLow standard, designed to address some of these issues, promises improved throughput for thousands of devices over large coverage areas. Despite its potential, the novelty of IEEE 802.11ah has resulted in a lack of literature and practical testing on the subject. This thesis performs a comprehensive performance evaluation of the NRC7292 Wi-Fi HaLow card under various conditions and assesses the results of both indoor and outdoor testing. Furthermore, a security assessment process will be conducted by analyzing the driver source code and by performing several attacks which will highlight the weaknesses of the standard.
