Riassunto
This thesis focuses on the calibration of an high-performance internal combustion engines intended for motorsport applications. The work was carried out in close collaboration with Autotecnica Motori, an internationally recognized company specialized in the design, development and manufacturing of racing engines, renowned for its extensive experience and the technological excellence of its solutions.
The subject of the thesis is the calibration of a naturally aspirated V6 engine developed for a Formula application. The activity began with an initial phase conducted on the engine test bench, where the main operating parameters much as ignition mapping, fuel injection mapping and throttle control were analyzed and optimized to achieve maximum performance while ensuring the required reliability standards.
The project then continued with a track calibration phase, essential to validate the test bench results under real operating conditions. This phase allowed for further refinement of the engine behavior, taking into account vehicle dynamics, variable environmental conditions and driver specific requirements.
Therefore, the thesis presents a concrete case of integrated bench to track development, aimed at delivering a highly responsive and high performing engine, aligned with the demanding specifications of a modern Formula race car.
