Riassunto
This thesis proposes a new translation of the Russian work “Очередь” (transliterated as “Očered'”), already translated into Italian in the 1980s by translator Pietro A. Zveteremich, highlighting the shortcomings of the earlier version and proposing a hybrid translation strategy that integrates naturalization and domestication. The analysis focuses on the rendering of realia, idiomatic expressions and speech particles, with particular attention to the use of the particle “ну” (transliterated as “nu”) and the concept of “очередь” (transliterated as “očered'”) as a social and cultural phenomenon in the Soviet Union. The methodology adopted is based on the theoretical frameworks of Osimo and Salmon, along with a critical reflection on the translation techniques used by the original translator, Peter A. Zveteremich. Finally, the thesis emphasizes the role of the translator as a cultural mediator, stressing the importance of preserving the linguistic and cultural specificities of the source text without compromising its comprehensibility for the contemporary Italian reader.
