Abstract
In the project a method to calculate the road profile, from the vehicle dynamic has been studied. The project can be subdivided in two parts. The first part concerns the realization of a mathematical model to simulate the vehicle dynamic in fact experimental data were not available for this project. For this model a simplified version of the rigid ring model has been used. The attention of the model has been concentrate on the vertical behaviour of the vehicle. It is important to emphasize that this study has been motivated to solve a problem concerning dump truck, and especially the tyre for the dump truck. But for the lack of data about these kinds of tyre and truck, a generic passenger vehicle data has been used. Whenever data about these kinds of tyre and truck will be available, trough a simple substitution of the opportune variable the model can be adapted to them.
The second part of the project concerns a method to analyze the dynamic behaviour of the vehicle to calculate the road profile. The dynamic aspects used in the analysis are the acceleration of the sprung and unsprung mass. The results of the processing data provide with good approximation the road profile. Moreover with the definition of two indexes a fast evaluation of the road roughness can be obtained.
