For a modularization based planning of reconfiguration resources i started with a study of the actual paradigms, influences and solutions for the enterprises that stand in a turbulent market.
Then i focus on the manufacturing resources. Particularly, we analyzed the evolution of these, the usage, the modular design and modules of single machine.
After an overview of the manufacturing resources, i shifted on the enterprise needs to identify the requirements that manufacturing resources and their modules must have. In this phase, i discovered the importance of processes analysis that through the single operation, the duration and the sequencing activity can give to the enterprise a lot of information essential for the right choice of manufacturing resources modules.
Other factors that directly affect the modularization based planning of reconfiguration resources are the constraints of enterprise (workspace or budget) and, of course, the part features (for example, the dimension of the part to be worked affect the dimension of a gripper or the maximum stoke of the machine tool axes).
In the end, i tried to find a correlation between requirements (that come from information of tactical and operation level) and the characteristics (that identify the manufacturing resources) with the purpose simplify and improve the planning of resources.
