Riassunto
We study the phase diagram and critical behaviour of 2-component three dimensional lattice
compact Abelian-Higgs models We study the system through Finite-size Scaling (FSS) analysis of the numerical results of Metropolis-Monte Carlo simulations.
We determine the phase diagram and study the nature of the phase transitions of the system for N = 2 in the presence of frustrated gauge interactions. The transition goes from being
a continuous transition belonging to the Heisenberg O(3) universality class to a
first-order transition as we vary the value of the gauge parameter.
We also do a FSS analysis of the fully frustrated system and estimate the critical exponents of the transition. In This regime the gauge field is forced to assume a fixed fully frustrated configuration in order to minimize the energy of the system, and observe a continuous transition belonging to a new universality class with a set of critical exponents different from the Heisenberg O(3) vector model. To our knowledge, these results are original and could be useful in the description of condensed matter systems. Further numerical investigation is needed to understand the applications of these new results.
