Riassunto
The surge of interest on two-dimensional(2D) materials is justified by the plethora of uses they can accomplish as well as by the transversal competences, embracing many fields from physics to material science, required to deal with them. Nowadays the research, not only pursue the exploration of new physical phenomena arising at low dimensional scales, but also envision a fundamental role for the development of reliable and controllable synthesis techniques and methodologies. The present work aims to describe the growth dynamics of 2D materials made up by Bismuth and Tellurium. The technique employed for the fabrication is the Pulsed Laser Deposition (PLD), a promising methodology for the production of 2D materials so far not extensively exploited yet. In order to characterize the fabricated films two main techniques, namely Scanning Tunneling Microscopy (STM) and Raman spectroscopy, are used. A systematic study of the morphological, structural, and electronic properties of the deposited materials is carried out and, to some extent, an explanation of the influence of experimental parameters on the material properties is depicted. In addition to valuable assessments on the effect of dimensionality upon Bi,Te and Au interaction, intriguing insight on the appearance of exotic phenomena are drawn out.
