Riassunto
The performance of the uplink of multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (MU-MIMO) systems depends on the receiver architecture. The current approach is to design receivers that minimize the mean squared error of the received data symbols without taking into account the channel state information (CSI) errors in the minimization process. In this project we analyse a new minimum mean squared error receiver that exploits the instantaneous CSI of each user to minimize the MSE in the presence of CSI errors. We analyse the performance of the proposed receiver assuming either Gaussian channels and uncorrelated antennas or the Winner II channel model. We compare the performance of the newly proposed CSI error-aware receiver with previously proposed receivers in terms of MSE and sum-rate. We also derive an analytical expression to evaluate the signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio (SINR) of the proposed receiver when operating with Gaussian channels and use this expression to develop pilot-to-data power ratio setting algorithms for sum-rate maximization and max-min fairness. Simulation results indicate that the proposed receiver and associated algorithms outperform previously proposed benchmark schemes using sub-optimal receivers.
