Riassunto
A study on turbulence theory and modeling is conducted in the first and second part of this work. The development, implementation and preliminary stages of validation of well-known hybrid Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes (RANS)/Large Eddy Simulation (LES) models are described in the third, and last, part of this work. The hybrid RANS/LES turbulence approach is incorporated into an high fidelity, extensively validated, flow solver, aeroelastic framework. This work is part of a much larger, ongoing project that involves also aeroelastic evaluations at relatively high Reynolds number. The task here, as a part of the whole project, is to validate the implementation and addition of the Spalart-Allmaras RANS-based hybrid methodology, also known as Detached Eddy Simulation (DES). Preliminary validations focus on a flow around the SD7003 airfoil section and around a circular cylinder.
