Il lavoro si occupa delle Historiae di Curzio Rufo e del loro rapporto con l’ambiente declamatorio, offrendo un tentativo di contestualizzazione dell’opera, di datazione incerta, alla luce delle affinità tematiche, stilistiche e ideologiche con i discorsi prodotti dalle scuole di declamazione e con gli autori del primo impero. Gli elementi principali della narrazione storiografica curziana sono indagati a partire dall’ambientazione (cap. 2), cui fanno seguito i personaggi (i barbari, cap. 3; Alessandro, cap. 4), mentre le modalità di narrazione del soggetto alessandreo sono trattate nell’introduzione (cap. 1), che offre anche un inquadramento generale dell’opera.

This work deals with Curtius Rufus’ Historiae and their relationship with the declamatory environment, offering an attempt to contextualise the work, of uncertain date, in light of the thematic, stylistic and ideological affinities with the speeches produced by the schools of declamation and with the authors of the early Empire. The main elements of Curtius’ historiographical narrative are investigated starting with the landscape (ch. 2), followed by the characters (the barbarians, ch. 3; Alexander, ch. 4), while the narrative modes are dealt with in the introduction (ch. 1), which also offers a general overview of the work.
