This thesis analyses the novel "El mar que nos trajo" by Griselda Gambaro and is structured into three chapters: an introductory section, a translation proposal and a translation commentary.
The first chapter provides a brief contextualization and outlines the author's profile, her narrative and theatrical production, as well as her engagement with women's issues. The analysis then focuses on the theme of migration, as situated within contemporary migrant literature, and presents the work through its main thematic and structural features, followed by a a particulatar emphasis on the motif of waiting.
The second chapter is devoted to the translation proposal, while the third offers a translation commentary, with spcial attention to lexis, verb tenses, linguistic registers and culture-specific elements. It also examines the rendering of silence, essential syntactic structures and gesture.

La presente tesi analizza il romanzo "El mar que nos trajo" di Griselda Gambaro ed è articolata in tre capitoli: un capitolo introduttivo, una proposta di traduzione e un commento traduttivo.
Il primo capitolo offre una breve contestualizzazione e delinea il profilo dell'autrice, la sua produzione narrativa e teatrale e l'interesse per la questione femminile. L'analisi si concentra quindi sul tema della migrazione, inquadrato nell'ambito della letteratura migratoria contemporanea, e presenta l'opera nelle sue principali caratteristiche tematiche e strutturali, seguita da un approfondimento sul motivo dell'attesa.
Il secondo capitolo è dedicato alla proposta di traduzione, mentre il terzo espone un commento traduttivo, con particolare attenzione al lessico, ai tempi verbali, ai registri linguistici e ai realia. Si esamina inoltre la resa del silenzio, delle strutture sintattiche essenziali e della gestualità.
