L’elaborato in questione tratta il caso studio Barilla relativo all’implementazione di un sistema di Real Time Visibility (RTV) applicato ai trasporti logistici, in quanto l’azienda ha deciso di averne una visione di tempo reale. Fornire visibilità in tempo reale, infatti, è ormai un aspetto fondamentale nella gestione della Supply Chain, dal momento che supporta diverse funzioni aziendali e garantisce la trasmissione di dati accurati in maniera tempestiva: “You cannot control what you cannot see”.
Dopo aver riflettuto sui vantaggi attesi e sulle motivazioni che hanno spinto Barilla ad intraprendere la strada della Real Time Visibility, ancora oggi abbastanza inesplorata e sconosciuta per molte aziende, l’elaborato ne ripercorre tutte le fasi di implementazione con i cambiamenti di processo necessari.
L’obiettivo del progetto si focalizza nel dettaglio sull’analisi quantitativa dei benefici e dei rischi apportati dalla RTV, in particolare si vuole sottolineare l’importanza delle informazioni che possono essere estratte dai dati in tempo reale e come queste possano guidare in modo automatico l’intera Supply Chain, migliorando la normale gestione manuale eseguita dagli operatori ogni giorno in ufficio.

This paper deals with the Barilla case study related to the implementation of a Real Time Visibility (RTV) system applied to logistics transports, as the company has decided to have a real time vision of them. In fact, providing real-time visibility has become a fundamental aspect in Supply Chain management, since it supports various company functions and guarantees the transmission of accurate data: "You cannot control what you cannot see".
After reflecting on the expected benefits and the reasons that led Barilla to introduce the Real Time Visibility, still quite unexplored and unknown for many companies nowadays, the paper retraces all the implementation phases with the necessary process changes.
The objective of the project focuses in detail on the quantitative analysis of the benefits and the risks brought by RTV. In particular we want to underline the importance of the information that can be extracted from the data in real time and how these can automatically guide the entire Supply Chain, improving the every day manual executions performed by operators in the office.
