Riassunto
Among the various applications covered by satellites is the Earth Observation Satellite Service(EESS). It plays a key role in that it allows us to keep track of how the planet is changing and thus monitor its health. A key technological aspect of these types of satellites concerns communication systems, particularly those for regarding Payload Data Telemetry (PDT), that is, the downlink of data measured by on-board sensors. One communication standard used in this area is DVB-S2, which allows for high data-rate, energy-efficient and reliable communications. This work concerns the FEC encoding section provided by the standard, specifically the BCH encoding section. The goal is to realize a BCH encoder that operates at very high data-rates (more than 10 Gbps), that supports all possible data configurations provided by the standard, and where the datapath is reconfigurable so that it can support different troughput values and adapt to any situation, mission and application.
