Riassunto
In this thesis it is developed a reduced order model for Hollow Cathodes in order to study both the plasma and thermal properties of the cathode. The model is then used to perform a preliminary design of a high current cathode in the frame of the European Space Agency project TANDEM, which aims to develop a 25 kW nested Hall Thruster. Finally it is evaluated the possibility do develop a more comprehensive model for cathode prototyping without the needs of using free parameters.
