Lo scritto intende indagare la possibilità del fenomeno delle drag queen di essere studiate e inserite nell’ambito dei Performance Studies. A fronte di ciò, cercherò di analizzare la performance in drag intersecando gli studi sulla performance estesa a più ambiti dell’esistenza umana - grazie anche alle nozioni di performativo e performatività -, la storia culturale delle drag queen e l’uso del travestitismo per considerare l’eventualità di introdurre un campo di studi apposito: i Drag Queen Studies.

This paper intends to investigate the possibility of the drag queen phenomenon being studied and included in the field of Performance Studies. It wants to analyze drag queen’s performance by intersecting studies on performance extended to multiple areas of human existence – also thanks to the notions of performative and performativity -, the cultural history of drag queens and their use of crossdressing in order to consider the possibility of introducing a specific field of study: Drag Queen Studies.
