L'elaborato in questione mira a stabilire un parallelismo tra la vita della poetessa americana Sylvia Plath e le fasi che compongono un Opus Alchemicum esoterico, prendendo in considerazione gli eventi biografici più significativi e un corposo numero di opere plathiane. La scelta di Sylvia di menzionare particolari immagini, fiori, animali, simboli e, soprattutto, colori giustifica l'avviarsi di un opus esoterico che attiva, in lei, specifiche dinamiche psichiche di natura junghiana. Grazie ad una lettura in chiave alchemica dell'arte di Sylvia Plath, il sui suicidio potrebbe essere interpretato come il culmine di un personale processo di individuazione.

The thesis aims to establish a parallelism between the life of the American poet Sylvia Plath and the phases that make up an esoteric Opus Alchemicum, taking into consideration the most significant biographical events and a substantial number of Plathian's works. Sylvia's choice to mention particular images, flowers, animals, symbols and, above all, colors justifies the start of an esoteric opus that allows the activation of specific Jungian psychic dynamics. Thanks to an alchemical reading of Sylvia Plath's art and considering the therapeutic value that this doctrine exerts in those who perform it, her suicide could be interpreted as the culmination of a personal process of individuation.
