Riassunto
Several studies showed how sleep deprivation negatively affects human cognitive processes such as vigilance and risk assesment. Risk taking behaviour especially has been associated with chronic sleep deprivation and circadian rythm disorders: two conditions from what shiftworkers may suffer as a result of their working schedule. The objective of the study is to investigate whether the variables associated with an increased risk of developing sleep disorders and with poor quality of sleep in this population also correlate with an impaired single nightshift tolerance investigated through cognitive tasks that explore sustained attention and risk taking behaviour.
