Sarcoidosis is a systemic granulomatous disease with up to 90% of patients have a respiratory involvement. The lack of certainty regarding its aetiology and pathogenesis represent a real brainteaser for clinicians. In my thesis I analysed a case history of 263 patients diagnosed with Sarcoidosis and enrolled in the regional registry of Tuscany and followed by the outpatients for Interstitial lung disease, Fibrosis and Sarcoidosis of University Pneumology Operative Unit of Pisa. The main aim of my study was to evaluate similarity and variation in presentation and development of the disease in terms of clinical manifestations, respiratory function and radiological characteristics. Data was analysed acknowledging the novel attempt of clinical classification as well as the most standardised system of staging. New perspectives on further line of research was also taken into account.
