Riassunto
Increasing evidence has demonstrated that dietary products and their active components are independently or jointly responsible for the apparent reduction in cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) risk. Endothelial dysfunction plays an important role in the development and progression of several chronic diseases including CVDs. Since endothelial dysfunction is currently considered a reversible phenomenon, there is a growing interest in the endothelial effects of nutraceuticals in order to provide powerful insights on their protective role. This review summarizes the healthful effects of several nutraceuticals, paying particular attention to our results focused on the protective effects of Citrus bergamia fruit, bee-pollen, and fermented foods on endothelial cells.
