Riassunto
Methods for the description and characterization of urban regions with human mobility data are developed and presented. Spatial concentration and autocorrelation are measured with spatial Entropy and Moran's I. Flows within urban areas are modeled as a network whose characteristics are used to describe the region. Individual mobility networks are used to produce aggregate measures that characterize the mobility behavior of an area's residents. Finally, methods to describe road networks and the traffic flowing through them, are introduced. All methods are applied to a database consisting of 18 mio. car trajectories of the Tuscany region.
