Riassunto
The past decades have seen an increasing interest in optical devices, the development of novel materials and technology for light engineering would lead to an enormous range of technological developments. Just in the telecommunication field the use of light for infor- mation transfer, using fiber-optic cables, have brought enormous improvements in transfer speeds. Quantum computing, highly coherent light sources, sensing and spectroscopy are only a few fields that would benefit from new optical devices.
Among the various materials suitable for light shaping, porous silicon is still a promising candidate for the development of novel all-silicon-based optical devices. Because of the devel- opment of optical based devices the need for coherent light sources is bound to rise: in this dissertation is presented the preliminary study and work done to acquire an array of nano- lasers using porous silicon technology.
