The Internet of Things (IoT) has transformed the way devices interact and exchange data, fostering innovation across many applications such as Smart Cities, Logistics, and Smart Ports. This has definitively required the development of store and share platforms. In this context, the SmartM2M Technical Committee, complemented by the oneM2M partnership project from a global perspective, proposed a framework for ensuring interoperability and scalability in IoT ecosystems. In recent years, the Port Network Authority of the North Tyrrhenian Sea has invested in the standardization of an ICT reference stack. This stack includes oneM2M services at the PaaS layer, implemented through an instance of a Mobius server supporting applications in the logistics and maritime domains. Recent trials performed in the Port of Livorno demonstrated that this kind of architecture cannot match the most challenging data-intensive applications. Starting from an analysis of the operational background, this thesis provides an attempt to fulfil the new requirements while proposing a caching method (still conforming with oneM2M) and performing an assessment of this solution towards state-of-the-art ICT alternatives.
