Riassunto (Inglese)
This thesis proposes a technical implementation of the TESLA (Timed Efficient Stream Loss-tolerant Authentication) protocol for VDES (VHF Data Exchange System)-based communications typically used in the maritime domain. The proposed implementation addresses the fundamental challenge of providing cryptographic authentication capabilities for Automatic Identification System (AIS) / Application Specific Messages (ASM) broadcast while maintaining complete backward compatibility with legacy systems. The solution employs an out-of-band architecture where authentication metadata travels on a parallel VDE-TER channel, decoupled from the data stream itself.
