Riassunto (Italiano)
In this work was studied the toughening of PLA (poly-lactic acid) biopolymer derived from corn with the biodegradable rubber PBAT (polybutylene adipate terephthalate).
PLA/PBAT blends with different percentage of PBAT were realized by extrusion and injection moulding. The toughening effect was evaluated by performing Charpy tests, tensile tests and three point bending test. FInally a theoretical model to evaluating the density of dissipated energy during the fracture through the plastic volume was applied and charpy specimens’ fracture surface morphology was analyzed using SEM microscopy in order to relate the mechanical properties with fracture morphology.
