Riassunto
In the following paper we present an extension of the Goodwin model of 1967, with respect to which we introduce an endogenous source of technical change in the specification of Kaldor-Verdoorn that connects the rate of growth of labor productivity with production dynamics especially in the manufacturing sector. Overcoming the low-dimensional non-linear context of Goodwin, our model aims to analyze the effect of a change in the elasticity of labour productivity relative to the employment rate and that of the labour market on macroeconomic dynamics. Our work shows that it is possible to identify the KV Law as a relationship that manifests itself through different stages of development of modern capitalism. In addition, even in a supply-side archetype but with endogenous technical change, our extension shows how a greater rigidity of the work has positive effects compared to a more flexible setup, reproducing therefore some stylized facts that can be seen both in Fordism and in Post Fordism, depending on the values assumed by the parameters of interest.
