Riassunto (Italiano)
To survive in the long-term by adapting to environmental changes, while competing in the short-period by refining existing competencies is broadly recognized as fundamental for organizations (March, 1991; Tushman and O’Reilly, 1996; He and Wong 2004).
This capability is known as Ambidexterity and it can be defined as the firms’ capacity to achieve simultaneously explorative and exploitative goals.
However, the balance between exploitation and exploration is in the literature considered as problematic, and firms often fail to manage these two dimensions effectively within one system.
This thesis project focuses on exploration and exploitation in production and product development functional domains in order to respond to the demand for investigating the balance across intra-organizational domains.
