Riassunto
The focus of this thesis is the development of sustainable, innovative, and bio-based coatings from polysaccharide derivatives (via cellulosic and chitinous materials in nano and macro size) for plastic and cellulosic food packaging under the RECOVER Project and partnership with CELABOR Scrl, Belgium. The purpose is increasing mechanical, barrier, anti-microbial properties of the packaging and extended shelf-life by preventing unfavourable changes caused by microbial spoilage, chemical contaminants, temperature change, oxygen, moisture, light, external force, and maintaining the qual-ity and safety of food products from the time of production to the time of consumption.
