The aim of this study was to investigate the social media use among adolescents. In particular the study sample consisted of 258 secondary school students (F=149), aged 14 to 22 (M(SD)=17.42(1.73). Using Bergen Social Media Addiction Scale (BSMAS), Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES), The Classmates Social Isolation Questionnaire for Adolescents (CSIQ-A) and State-Trait Anxiety Inventory (STAI-Y) to measure different psychological characteristics related to social media problematic use, it was found that that none of these characteristics represent a risk factor for social media addiction. However, it was found that gender and age affect social media addiction.
