This thesis investigates the practical application of Industry 5.0 methodologies and tools for improving supply chain performance in paper manufacturing companies. As the industry faces unprecedented challenges including sustainability regulations, workforce demographics shifts, and competitive pressures, Industry 5.0 offers a human-centric approach that balances technological advancement with worker empowerment and environmental responsibility. Through a comprehensive mixed-methods approach combining systematic literature review, real-world case study analysis, and multi-criteria decision-making frameworks, this study provides empirical evidence and actionable guidelines for Industry 5.0 implementation. Key findings from successful implementations at major paper companies (Stora Enso, UPM-Kymmene, ANDRITZ) demonstrate measurable improvements: 30% reduction in maintenance costs, 20% reduction in unplanned downtime, 20% decrease in energy consumption, and 25% reduction in workplace safety incidents. The research contributes both theoretical understanding of Industry 5.0 in traditional manufacturing contexts and practical implementation frameworks that paper companies can immediately apply. The developed framework addresses technology selection, implementation sequencing, human factors, and performance measurement - filling a critical gap in existing literature that focuses primarily on high-tech industries while neglecting traditional manufacturing sectors.
