Il progetto nasce con l'obiettivo di far luce sulla ricezione della letteratura straniera nel campo culturale italiano, sia attraverso un approccio critico-letterario, sia tramite un'indagine sociologica ed editoriale del libro quale bene materiale sottoposto a un'intensa fase di commercializzazione e altamente influenzato da elementi extratestuali. Sulla base delle più recenti teorie entro il campo degli studi traduttivi sociologico-letterari, sarà presentato il progetto di traduzione reciproca che ha visto come protagonisti Franco Fortini e Hans Magnus Enzensberger all'inizio degli anni Sessanta del Novecento. Il diverso approccio manifestato nei confronti della poetica di Bertolt Brecht - da cui entrambi traggono la propria 'postura autoriale' - dimostrerà come l'atto della traduzione e i conflitti editoriali accesi dai 'mediatori' risultino determinanti nella ricezione di un'opera straniera.

This project seeks to shed light on the reception of foreign literature in the Italian cultural setting, not only by means of a critical-literary approach, but also through a sociological and editorial analysis of the book as a physical product subjected to an intense phase of commercialization as well as heavily influenced by extratextual elements. Based on the most recent theories within the field of sociological-literary translation studies, this work will examine the mutual translation project that involved Franco Fortini and Hans Magnus Enzensberger in the early 1960s. The different approach displayed towards the poetics of Bertolt Brecht - from which they both draw their 'authorial stance' - will illustrate how the act of translation and the editorial conflicts ignited by “mediators” prove to be crucial in the reception of a foreign work.
