L’affettività situata rivaluta il ruolo dell’ambiente nei confronti della sfera affettiva: non più un mero trigger, ma un supporto (scaffold) che permette la gestione e la regolazione della propria affettività. In che modo l’ambiente possa strutturare le nostre emozioni e come l’affettività possa essere regolata attraverso quelle che vengono definite nicchie affettive, sono le due questioni attorno alle quali ho costruito la tesi. Nel primo capitolo mi sono concentrata sulle teorie delle emozioni che hanno avuto un maggiore influsso sugli studi contemporanei dell’affettività, a partire da Darwin fino ad arrivare a Griffiths e Scarantino e all’approccio delle 4E. Nel secondo capitolo ho invece analizzato come la modifica dell’ambiente attraverso la costruzione di nicchie affettive porti alla modifica del proprio stato affettivo. Ho posto particolare attenzione ai vari tipi di supporti utilizzati: da quelli materiali a quelli intersoggettivi fino ad arrivare a quelli digitali. A tal proposito mi sono avvalsa degli studi di Giovanna Colombetti, Joel Krueger e Lucy Osler. Infine, nel terzo ed ultimo capitolo mi sono focalizzata sulla possibilità della disregolazione emotiva e sulla messa in questione dell’utente in quanto agente pienamente consapevole dell’utilizzo delle risorse per regolare la propria affettività. Per questo capitolo conclusivo mi sono basata principalmente sulla nozione di «Mind Invasion» elaborata da Jan Slaby.

Situated affectivity re-evaluates the role of the environment in relation to the affective sphere: no longer a mere trigger, but a support (scaffold) that enables affective management and regulation. How the environment can structure our emotions and how affectivity can be regulated through so-called affective niches are the two questions around which I have built this thesis. In the first chapter I focused on the theories of emotion that have had the greatest influence on contemporary studies of affectivity, starting with Darwin and ending with Griffiths and Scarantino and the 4E approach. In the second chapter I analysed how the modification of the environment through the construction of affective niches leads to the modification of one's affective state. I paid particular attention to the different types of media used: from material to intersubjective to digital. In this regard, I have drawn on the work of Giovanna Colombetti, Joel Krueger and Lucy Osler. Finally, in the third and final chapter, I focused on the possibility of emotional dysregulation and the questioning of the user as an agent fully aware of the use of resources to regulate his or her affectivity. For this final chapter, I drew mainly on Jan Slaby's notion of 'mind invasion'.
