La tesi si propone di fornire per la prima volta in lingua italiana una traduzione del testo medievale in lingua antico-islandese noto con il titolo di Færeyinga saga, corredata da note, un'introduzione sul genere 'saga' e sul discusso rapporto tra la letteratura islandese medievale e la storiografia, un approfondimento sulle origini del testo in esame, e un commento di alcuni elementi ritenuti particolarmente degni di attenzione; tra questi emergono in particolare il tema della faida come fulcro narrativo, e sette versi poetici di argomento cristiano, interpretabili come manifesto ideologico dell'antagonista della vicenda.

The thesis aims to provide, for the first time in the Italian language, a translation of the medieval text in Old Icelandic known as Færeyinga saga, accompanied by notes, an introduction to the 'saga' genre and to the debated relationship between medieval Icelandic literature and historiography, a look at the origins of the text under examination, and a commentary on certain elements considered particularly worthy of attention. Among these, two stand out in particular: the theme of the feud as the narrative core, and seven poetic verses of Christian content, which may be interpreted as an ideological manifesto of the antagonist of the story.
