Riassunto
Eliot’s The Waste Land is one of the most studied works of worldwide literature. There are numerous articles, monographs, and manuals about its structure, multiple allusions and themes. Some critics do not surrender to its ambiguity and attempt to give a definitive interpretation. In short, one could argue that everything worth saying on The Waste Land has already been said. So, why is there still a strong interest in this poem? This study explores the varied and innovative adaptations and rewritings that artists from different fields (literature, music, theatre and figurative art) and eras have realised, inspired by Eliot’s poem. The aim is to show that, despite being a hundred-year poem, The Waste Land is a work of art that is still very eloquent and fertile for development in the contemporary context.
