Riassunto (Italiano)
Oxylipins are compounds formed by the oxidation of poly unsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs). They are biomarkers of oxidative stress and inflammation which are important conditions that play a key-role in the pathogenesis and progression of many cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) including heart failure (HF). A method of recent validation was used for analysing saliva samples from patients affected by heart failure, at hospitalization and when discharged from the hospital. Data analysis may be useful for future applications of this method in this field. Therefore, statistical analysis was performed including a principal component analysis (PCA) and discrimination of sample features utilising receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves. Signal of some compounds is significantly different from hospitalized patients to discharged ones.
