Riassunto
Antibiotics (ATBs) impair the efficacy of immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) in solid tumors. In this prospective study, we show that ATB spectrum reshapes gut bacterial, archaeal, and fungal communities and alters host immunometabolism. Interestingly, ATB-associated enrichment of Geotrichum candidum was linked to improved outcomes and counteracted the negative effect of ATBs on progression-free and overall survival in ICI-treated patients. The causative link between gut residence of Geotrichum candidum and restoration of ICI responsiveness during antibiotic-induced dysbiosis was further demonstrated in murine models.
