Riassunto
The purpose of this research project is to develop a green conversion of furfural to furfuryl alcohol in aqueous medium using ruthenium-based catalysts. Then, furfuryl alcohol hydrolysis to levulinic acid has been investigated using Amberlyst-15, H-ZSM-5 and niobium phosphate as acid catalysts in order to obtain a one-pot reaction from furfural to levulinic acid and gamma-valerolactone.
