The following dissertation is a survey of diplomacy and other peaceful state interactions between Mesopotamian and Elamite states from the 3rd millennium to the middle of the first millennium BCE. It is a unique overview, for detail and timespan, of a subject with little academic precedent; furthermore, the underlying argument consists in providing a rebalanced view on the history of state behaviours which regard regions traditionally described in antagonistic terms. Maps and accompanying images are provided to give a clearer description and understanding of the specific context being mentioned.
