(EN) This degree thesis has as its object of analysis the historical study of the relationships in football between East Germany and West Germany from their separation until reunification. I chose this topic because football, after World War II, was fundamental in not starting new wars on European territory and in maintaining a minimum diplomatic relationship between the east and the west, as it was for the two German states. With the help of the sources I consulted, in the degree thesis I wanted to highlight the different approach in creating one's own football systems, the challenges in the European cups between clubs and those between the national teams at the Olympic Games and the 1974 World Cup, hidden direction of the Stasi in East German football, the various desertions of the players from the GDR to go to West Germany and, finally, the reunification of the leagues and national teams, in all cases reconnecting me to the facts that have marked the history of the entire German territory. In researching the sources and writing the thesis, I noticed how the history of Germany in the second half of the twentieth century is more connected to football than is believed and still today is the mirror of the economic and social differences between the east and the west, despite the reunification.
