L'acido abscissico (ABA) è un fitormone che regola diverse risposte fisiologiche nelle piante. Negli ultimi 15 anni sono stati condotti diversi studi che dimostrano che la somministrazione di ug/kg BW di ABA è efficace nel controllo glicemico in seguito a un test da carico orale di glucosio sia sui topi che sull'uomo.
In questo progetto di tesi gli obietti sono stati:
1.valutare se la somministrazione di acido abscissico (5 ug/kg BW) tramite gavaggio orale in acuto e potesse rappresentare una terapia adiuvante l'insulina in topi resi insulinopenici tramite trattamento con streptozotocina (STZ) ad alta dose (200 mg/kg BW).
2.investigare l'efficacia del trattamento in cronico con tali dosi di ABA nella condizione di iperglicemia indotta da STZ.
Abscissic acid (ABA) is a phytohormone that regulates various physiological responses in plants. Over the past 15 years, several studies have been conducted demonstrating that the administration of ug / kg BW of ABA is effective in glycemic control following an oral glucose load test in both mice and humans.
In this thesis project the objectives were:
1.evaluate whether administration of abscisic acid (5 ug / kg BW) by acute oral gavage and could represent an adjuvant therapy to insulin in mice rendered insulinopenic by treatment with high-dose streptozotocin (STZ) (200 mg / kg BW).
2.investigate the efficacy of chronic treatment with such doses of ABA in the condition of hyperglycemia induced by STZ.
