Riassunto
Atherosclerosis is strongly represented in the global pathological landscape. Its morphological characteristics and the plaque associated cells are the subject of study worldwide. Adverse events resulting from it can be anticipated through the recognition of tissue and circulating biomarkers. One fundamental component of this pathology is the vascular smooth muscle cell (VSMCs) and its role in plaque formation and progression processes. In this study, we analyzed the cellular response of VSMCs to treatments simulating inflammatory oxidative processes and glucose metabolism, which are key factors in the genesis and progression of the pathology. We conducted biochemical analyses on tissue and cell cultures derived from atherosclerotic plaques treated with stimuli associated with the pathology. Finally, we performed analyses on the entire proteome to discover the responses activated by cells following stimuli implicated in the onset and progression of the disease.
