La mia tesi intitolata "Le Isole Baleari nel commercio mediterraneo" propone di analizzare il commercio marittimo da e per le Isole Baleari nell’ambito del Mediterraneo occidentale dall’età imperiale alla Tarda Antichità. Questo elaborato è stato sviluppato analizzando la storia e la geomorfologia delle Isole Baleari, e alcuni relitti affondati in questo luogo. Sono state poi esaminate per tipologia, contenuto e dinamiche di produzione e commercio le anfore spagnole. In seguito, è stato definito il ruolo del Mediterraneo, le merci e le possibili rotte. E da ultimo, sono stati studiati i meccanismi economici che muovevano il commercio nel Mediterraneo occidentale, enfatizzando le modalità del commercio statalmente assistito e quello di libero mercato e presentando, infine, un quadro della diffusione delle anfore spagnole sulle rotte che passavano per le Isole Baleari.

My thesis entitled "The Balearic Islands in Mediterranean trade" proposes to analyse maritime trade to and from the Balearic Islands in the western Mediterranean from the imperial age to late antiquity.
This work was developed by analysing the history and geomorphology of the Balearic Islands, and some shipwrecks that sank in this area. Spanish amphorae were then examined by type, content and production and trade dynamics. Subsequently, the role of the Mediterranean, the goods and the possible routes were defined. Finally, the economic mechanisms that drove trade in the western Mediterranean were studied, emphasising the methods of state-assisted trade and free market trade and, finally, presenting a picture of the spread of Spanish amphorae on the routes that passed through the Balearic Islands.
