L'obiettivo della tesi consisterebbe nel tracciare un'esaustiva ricostruzione storica della sestina lirica in retrogradatio cruciata, da Daniel Arnaut fino ai poeti neometrici.
La tesi sarà accompagnata da una ricerca di censimento del maggior numero possibile di sestine liriche, al fine di creare un documento contentente tutte le sestine ed evidenziarne le varianti formali e tematiche. Tradizionalmente, si ritiene che la peculiarità di tale forma poetica risiedesse nella sua complessità strutturale, ma anche a livello contenutistico emergono temi ricorrenti. Attraverso un'analisi degli exempla rappresentativi per ciascun secolo, l'indagine si propone di evidenziare le trasformazioni e le costanti.

The aim of the thesis is to provide a comprehensive historical reconstruction of the sestina lyric in retrogradatio cruciata, from Daniel Arnaut to the Neo-Metric poets.
The thesis will be accompanied by a survey to catalog as many sestina lyrics as possible, with the goal of creating a document that compiles all known sestinas and highlights their formal and thematic variations. Traditionally, the distinctiveness of this poetic form has been attributed to its structural complexity, but recurring themes also emerge at the content level. Through an analysis of representative examples from each century, the study aims to highlight both transformations and continuities in the evolution of the sestina.
