Riassunto
In recent years, electronics has been moving more and more towards the development of materials and technologies that can be applied to make wearable devices; these are often made on flexible substrates to increase their comfort. These particular devices can have different purposes, in the health and sports sector, for example, the main objective is to monitor, detect and analyse physiological parameters related to the health’s one.
This thesis project aims to realise a sensor obtained by means of ink-jet printing. Specifically, the design, manufacture, characterisation and implementation of a pressure sensor. The sensor was printed using graphene as ink. During the work, various measurements and tests were carried out to understand how to optimise the Gauge Factor of our material, often modifying both the printing parameters and the geometry of the sensor.
The circuit is managed using a Raspberry Pico Pi, a microcontroller whose task is to acquire data from the circuit and then send it to the PC.
The thesis is organised as follows: Chapter 1 introduces inkjet printing and discusses the characteristics of graphene, followed by an overview of the devices made from this material. Chapter 2 begins with a presentation of the equipment used, followed by the fabrication of the sensor and the construction of the circuit, concluding with the characterisation of the sensor.
