Summary
Several benefits could be brought to rehabilitation by the introduction of robotic devices to side the work of the therapist. In this thesis, it is introduced a new approach for overground gait rehabilitation, based on the integration of a Body Weight Support (BWS) System for oveground training (the FLOAT) with an Active Pelvis Orthosis (the APO) to assist hip movements during walking.
First tests of the overall system aimed at exploiting the assistance provided by the exoskeleton to compensate gait alterations that occur walking with body-weight unloading. For this task, the APO was used under a cooperative assistive strategy. Experimental results are presented and discussed.
