Il primo capitolo del presente studio analizza le relazioni tra la Russia e i paesi mediorientali dai primi contatti in età zarista fino agli eventi più recenti, con particolare attenzione al periodo della Guerra Fredda. Nel secondo capitolo è presentato il contesto attuale in cui la Federazione Russa opera, esaminando le attività economiche preminenti, l’intervento militare nella guerra civile siriana, le iniziative multilaterali in cui il Cremlino è coinvolto e i suoi principali antagonisti nella regione. Infine nel terzo capitolo vengono delineate le principali differenze e similitudini tra la politica sovietica e quella attuale, oltre alle possibili evoluzioni che l’attuale approccio di Mosca potrà intraprendere nel futuro.

The first chapter of this study analyzes the relations between Russia and the Middle Eastern countries from the first contacts in the Tsarist age to the most recent events, with particular attention to the Cold War period. The second chapter presents the current context in which the Russian Federation operates, examining the pre-eminent economic activities, military intervention in the Syrian civil war, the multilateral initiatives in which the Kremlin is involved and its main antagonists in the region. Finally, in the third chapter, the main differences and similarities between Soviet and current politics are outlined, as well as the possible evolutions that the current Moscow approach may undertake in the future.
