Riassunto
The aim of this thesis is to provide tools for studying the handling and the stability of a vehicle with aerodynamic effects and open differential on rear axle. The discussion is based on two approaches, both focusing on the relationship between data collected in steady-state conditions and transient behaviour. The first approach is based on the use of the constitutive equations of the vehicle model (axle characteristics) in order to obtain the stability and control derivatives. The second approach is based on the use of MAPs (Maps of Achievable Performance), which provide equilibrium states that can be reached by the system at steady-state conditions, and the components of the gradients of the equilibrium states.
By correlating the gradients with constitutive equations, it is possible to define a close relationship between stationary data (obtained through simulations or telemetry),constitutive equations, stability and control derivatives.
The analyzes were first carried out on a linear single track vehicle model and then improved by using a nonlinear single track model.
