La tesi si basa sulla traduzione del romanzo poliziesco Death and the Good Life.
Il primo capitolo è dedicato alla presentazione dell'autore del romanzo, Richard Hugo, e presenta un'ampia panoramica della sua vita e della sua produzione poetica.
Nel secondo capitolo, ho sviluppato un'analisi del romanzo. Inizialmente ho introdotto il genere letterario dell'opera, ovvero il poliziesco hardboiled. Successivamente, ho analizzato la donna serial killer presente nel romanzo e in seguito la critica verso la società americana degli anni '70 e '80 che l'opera contiene implicitamente.
Il terzo capitolo è dedicato all'analisi e al commento della traduzione del romanzo. Questo capitolo si concentra principalmente sulle sfide e le scelte che ho affrontato nel processo di traduzione e fornisce una riflessione critica sulle soluzioni adottate.

My thesis is based on the translation of the detective novel Death and the Good Life.
The first chapter of the thesis is dedicated to the presentation of the author of the novel, Richard Hugo: I provided an overview of his life and of his poetic works.
In the second chapter, I analyzed the novel. Initially, I introduced the literary genre of the work which is the hardboiled detective fiction. Subsequently, I examined the female serial killer character in the novel, highlighting the critique of the American society during the 1970s and 1980s that the novel contains.
The third chapter is dedicated to the analysis and the commentary of the translation of the novel. This chapter primarily focuses on the challenges and choices I faced in the translation process and provides a critical reflection on the solutions adopted.
